A chain of jewelry stores' proprietors are retiring and giving their staff free ownership of the company. After more than 60 years of dedication to Bernie Robbins Jewelers, Harvey and Maddy Rovinsky are handing the reins. The company's US locations are in Philadelphia and New Jersey, and they sell diamond jewelry as well as items made by well-known designers.

Harvey discussed the choice in an interview with Fox News Digital, emphasizing the necessity for a succession plan.

"My spouse and I are no longer children. Since there isn't a family in the company, we sort of need a succession plan. Our runway is getting shorter, you know, and the business disappears if there's an issue with one of us, or both of us," stated Harvey.

"We've been searching for a means to sustain it, to maintain the employment of incredibly amazing people. Many of them have spent 30, 25, and even 20 years with us. Thus, these are lifelong friends who are more like family, Harvey continued.

Harvey emphasized that despite their best efforts, they were unable to locate a buyer who shared their values and would be able to carry on their legacy.

"You know, this has been in front of our faces the entire time," we exclaimed. The owner stated, "Why not give it to the people who are currently running it successfully instead of trying to find a qualified buyer?"

They are cognizant of our culture and our desires. They've been in charge of it for a while, and we're lucky that the prospect of financial gain hasn't deterred them. Thus, we're going to keep running the company with the knowledgeable staff," Harvey clarified.

Harvey would remain the company's CEO following the formalization of the change.

"I'm flattered and honored that they've asked me to stay on, which I will be happy to do until I annoy them enough and they fire me," he stated.
