Graft-accused Chandrababu Naidu produced in court, says illegally detained by CB CID - India Today

On September 9, 2023, Chandrababu Naidu, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 371 crore skill development scam. He was subsequently brought before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada on September 10, 2023, under tight security.

Naidu's legal defense was led by prominent Supreme Court advocate Siddarth Luthra, who had the support of a dedicated team of lawyers. Naidu himself has raised serious allegations, claiming that he was unlawfully detained by the CB CID for an extensive seven-hour period. He asserted that his bus was surrounded on September 8th, effectively restricting his movement. It is worth noting that despite his arrest reportedly taking place at 11 pm, official records only indicated a formal arrest at 6 am. Additionally, Naidu was taken to the CB CID office at Mangalagiri without being presented before any court.
